Abstract
Base station antennas with cross-polarized antenna branches are commonly used in mobile communication systems. It is known that the use of vertically and horizontally polarized base station antennas results in unbalance between received powers in mobile station, while the channels corresponding to ±45° slanted, linearly polarized antennas are correlated. In this paper, we calculate the power unbalance and correlation between the channels in terms of channel cross-polarization and base station antenna properties. Furthermore, link level performance of transmit diversity techniques, suitable to GSM/EDGE radio access network, is simulated.
