  • Abstract
Physical phenomena caused by pulsed electromagnetic energy have a variety of applications on biotechnologies. Electroporation method for agricultural applications was started around 15 years ago in order to improve juice extraction yield of fruits and root vegetables. Some reported that the drying time of root vegetables can be reduced to about 1/3 due to promotion of cell-disruption after applying pulsed electric field1, and germination rate of Nicotiana tabacum was increased using by applying pulsed electromagnetic field2. Those studies suggest that pulsed electromagnetic energy owns a certain effect on plant for its growth control.
