Artistic conception of Baishan-Tianchi Garden

Baishan-Tianchi Garden is the exterior exhibition garden of Jilin province at the International Horticultural Exposition in Kunming, China. We planned and designed the garden following the Chinese traditional universe model under the principle “unity of heaven and man”. We used natural landscape and resources in Jilin province, mimicked and poeticized the wonderful natural scenery, and created a garden full of associations and conceptions. Learning from nature, we constructed the garden on the framework of “one mountain, one pond, one waterfall, one river, and one lake”, refined the typical landscape of the Changbai Mountain and the Songhua River, and created the natural layout of a small landscape garden with eight landscaping spots. The theme of nature and local characters were highlighted in horticulture, flowers, greens, small-sized landscape architecture, ethnic culture, geographical environment, history and arts, and representative signs. We emphasized comparison to virtues embodied in scenery, personification of scenery, and adopted celebrities´ inscriptions, excellent poetry and proses to create picturesque splendor. It created the thematic artistic conception of nature breeding mankind, mankind protecting nature, mankind and nature coexisting in harmony.
