Abstract :
Single point nanowelding (SPNW) of nanowires is highly demanded for functional electronics and photonics devices while it is difficult to be realized due to small footprints of nanowires and controlling the localized heat generation. Here we review our recent work on the precise control of SPNW of silver nanowires, where the nanowelding is induced through the plasmonic enhanced photothermal effect while the structures are shined by a focused continuous-wave laser beam. Several welded structures will be presented and the underlying mechanism will be shown.
