In addition to more precise specifications, Edition 5 of IEC 60079-14, “Electrical installations design, selection and erection”, also contains some important innovations. This standard also applies to hazardous locations. · The documents required for the site, the equipment, the installation and the verification of the competence of employees · The initial inspection · Battery-powered equipment shall be certified for Gas Group IIC · Cables in hazardous areas shall be round and compact. The requirements also apply for cables for intrinsically safe circuits · Cable glands · New requirements for enclosures for more than one intrinsically safe circuit · Consideration of the dissipation power of terminal boxes.
