Abstract
This paper investigates conventional inductor-coupled ZVT inverters. The investigation reveals two types of circulating currents-freewheeling current and magnetizing current-and their influence on the inverter performance, efficiency and EMI. This paper proposes a novel inductor-coupled ZVT inverter that eliminates those circulating currents. While the proposed inverter achieves the same zero-voltage commutation as conventional inverters, it improves both efficiency and EMI performance by eliminating the circulating currents. In addition, its structure is simplified by removing the saturable inductors and by reducing the number of inductors
