Abstract :
On the basis of maximum entropy spectral estimation (MES) applied to highly amplified surface electrocardiograms, the authors observed that the variability as well as the area below the power spectrum above 80 Hz are suitable parameters to classify and differentiate 2- and 3-D spectra. The aim of this study was to compare the performance of time domain analysis with frequency analysis using standard fast Fourier transform based spectral estimators. The detection rate of MES was distinctly higher in comparison to the periodogram. MES with noise suppression and in combination with automatic parameter extraction in the time domain led to an overall detection rate of 90% for a group of high-risk patients
