Abstract :
Signal averaging has been used to enhance signals with random noise. This technique relies on determining the fiducial points accurately. Power line noise affects fiducial point calculations significantly. The authors have developed an alignment method using cross correlation, template preselection, and signal processing that virtually eliminates fiducial point errors due to power line noise. Simulation studies are presented to illustrate the results. They used real electrocardiographic signals contaminated with 60 Hz and Gaussian noise
