Abstract
This paper presents an AC-grid fault ride-through control strategy for a recently proposed modular multilevel Voltage Source Converter (VSC) named the Alternate Arm Converter (AAC). The primary purpose of the control strategy is to ensure that power balance can be maintained between the AC- and DC-terminals of the AAC. Therefore, the sub-module capacitor voltages can remain regulated. A set of simulation results for a line-line fault is presented.
