Abstract :
This paper presents a general method for pinpointing location of faults on a double-circuit transmission line by employing only voltage measurements at one or two buses based on the bus impedance matrix technique. The bus impedance matrix of the network with the addition of a fictitious bus at the fault point for each sequence network is constructed as a function of fault location. Fault location can then be derived from fault analysis utilizing the expanded bus impedance matrices. The distinctive feature of this method is that measurements can be from buses other than those of the faulted line. The proposed approach assumes that the network data is available. Quite accurate results have been obtained based on simulation studies.
