Abstract :
Solid state modulators are replacing conventional tube-type radar modulators in a range of transmitter upgrades and new designs. This paper summarizes the DTI´s progress on solid-state upgrades in three different radar transmitter upgrades and on one new design. These include the AN/SPG-60 Fire Control Radar; the Advanced High-Power Solid-State Modulator; the AN/FPQ-17 Multiple-Target Instrumentation Radar; and the AN/SPS-49 Long Range Air Surveillance Radar.
