Abstract
Household refrigerators usually employ on/off-controlled, constant-speed, single-phase induction motors as compressor drives. This paper describes results obtained on a prototype refrigerator fitted with a variable-speed, three-phase, brushless DC motor drive. Considerations regarding the motor construction are described, and test results of the motor and drive efficiency are presented and discussed
