Abstract :
Z39.50 is a network protocol that provides access to information systems. This is a client/server-based protocol for information retrieval. It specifies procedures and structures for a client to search in heterogeneous databases provided by a server, retrieve databases records identified by a search, scan a term list, and sort a result set. The protocol addresses communication between corresponding information retrieval applications, the client and server.
