Abstract
In the paper, an intelligent, energy-aware target detection algorithm in area monitoring of hierarchical clustered wireless sensor network was proposed where the corresponding messages to the detected targets are reliably relayed to the sink in the form of aggregated data packets. It has following key features: a new concept of multi-hop neighborhood based cluster head (CH) selection; the sink assigned adaptable multi-parameter computation capacity to all sensor nodes who do collaboratively manage the packet relay in a fast and accurate way; the network topology is changeable based on the number of currently alive sensor nodes and their corresponding residual energy. Simulations significantly verify that the proposed algorithm achieve sound target detection capability in terms of accuracy, reliability and energy efficiency.
