Abstract
A lumped parameter thermal model for a permanent-split-capacitor single-phase induction motor (PSCSPIM) has been developed. The thermal model is, in part, dependent upon the accurate allocation of iron losses within the machine. Using the temperature time technique a more accurate loss distribution within the machine was determined. The results from the model are validated against those measured at strategic locations within the machine
