Abstract
An outlook of efficiencies of present day induction motors manufactured by European factories is given. An illustration of the impact of improving induction motor efficiency as a factor of decreasing energy consumption in the EU is also given. Another purpose is to describe the “Hi-motors” (energy efficient induction motors) competition for motor manufacturers. The competition will be held in 1997 by International Energy Agency (IEA). LUT is responsible for preparing the technical requirements
