  • Abstract
We present in this paper the model capture module of an industrial process control studio development tool dedicated to industrial control and process automation. It is through this module that the user is given an avenue to capture or model relevant abstract control problems for rapid prototyping on programmable logic controllers (PLCs) as well as embedded microprocessor systems or even FPGA-based controllers. The model capture tool is a reconfigurable IDE (integrated development environment) that can be used to model a control application using one of the five different PLC programming languages (ladder diagram, sequential function chart, function logic block, structured text, and instruction list) defined by the IEC 61131-3 standard
