Abstract :
This paper introduces a more efficient remote user interface using an intelligent mobile robot and a 3D remote home viewer than that of conventional home automation system. The proposed system gives 3D environment map for virtual reality and real image together, which make more comfortable and easier user interface than conventional system which just gives information by text messages. As the camera image from the home robot is sent to the 3D remote home viewer in real-time, it is easy to know the status of the house and the position of the robot. Moreover user can move the home robot and control the pan-tilt camera easily using joystick. We developed the proposed system and tested its performance and convenience
