Abstract :
This work concerns with multiple targets localization by 2 fixed passive non-coherent linear arrays. Because of the non-coherence between the two arrays´ signals, only bearing measurements from two arrays are available and signal correlation and time delay can not be used. With bearing information and two arrays positions, triangulation is the main method for target localization. Meanwhile, when there are M targets, the number of crosses varies from M2 to 4M2 for 2 linear passive arrays. It is difficult to localize targets from the multiple crosses. In this work, we propose to make use of the bearing information and source level to distinguish ghost cross and target location. By using root- MUSIC, accurate bearing estimation will be obtained and the signal strength at each array is estimated by MVDR. The source level at each cross is estimated based on the acoustic wave propagation model. If the cross is a true target location, the source levels estimated from two arrays should be equal at the cross. Otherwise, the estimated source levels from two arrays are different. Based on this information, the target can be localized. Simulation results show that the method works well for high SNR scenario.
