Abstract :
An overlapping domain decomposition method (DDM) and finite element method (FEM)/boundary element method (BEM) are combined to compute the scattering property of two dimensional anisotropic dielectric cylinder. The boundary element method is used to analyze the field external to the cylinder. The domain of dielectric cylinder is divided into several subdomains and the finite element method is applied for analyze those subdomains. Coupling of different subdomains is achieved by transmission condition on the interface. The multifrontal method is introduced to solve the FEM equations to improve speed. The inward looking approach with multifrontal algorithm is utilized to solve the linear equation of hybrid finite element-boundary element method. The computation results show that the required computer memory is greatly reduced by using DDM.
