Abstract
With distributed dynamic channel allocation (DDCA), the number of transceivers equipped within each base station does not necessarily have to be the number of channels in the systems. The minimum number of transceivers per base station without causing significant blocking performance degradation, is investigated by computer simulations. Next, a novel distributed traffic sharing scheme which reduces the blocking due to the limited number of transceivers, is proposed. By adjusting the beacon signal power at each base, mobiles are directed to neighbouring cells when all transceivers are busy in a given cell. It is shown that the number of transceivers can be further reduced by incorporating the proposed scheme
