Abstract :
With planar inductive components, it is possible to integrate electric energy storage functions into the conventional winding window, without a significant increase in the overall volume. This electromagnetic integration is well suited to high volume low cost manufacturing techniques. The limitations of the currently available planar electromagnetic integration technology limits the choice of topology that can be realistically integrated. In this paper several unity power factor correction converter topologies are analysed with regards to electromagnetic integration is analysed and predictions made as to what may be achieved as planar electromagnetic integration technology advances
