Abstract :
The ballast IC which includes 625 V high-side gate driver, lamp control function, protection circuitry and power MOSFETs for the half-bridge is proposed using a cost-effective 9SIP package. This IC detects output swing of the inverter and automatically controls the switching time to meet ZVS operation. The additional benefit of active ZVS control, the IC can protect the system from an open load or abnormal load conditions. When it drives two 35 W lamps, the efficiency is 89.3% including the power consumption of a PFC circuit.
