Mobile communications: compatibility with the vehicle environment

A popular application for mobile telephony and other forms of mobile communications is in vehicles. The vehicle environment is harsh. Mobile radio apparatus must be suitable for these conditions and compatible with existing vehicle electronic systems. The author examines some of the issues involved in ensuring the compatibility of mobile communications equipment with the vehicle environment. Particular reference will be made to vehicle electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) by way of an extended example
