Abstract :
Direct Torque Control with Multilevel Inverter (DTC-MLI) has emerged recently in high dynamics AC drives fields for induction machines or permanent magnet machines application. Direct Torque Control (DTC) has the characters such as combined simplicity and robustness with excellent performance of torque control for the drive system. This paper presents the implementation of a high performance Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Induction Motor (IM) based on three level inverter drive. The paper shows the evaluation of a Three-level Neutral Point Clamped inverter is used as drive system for high power application. The existing inverter drive achieve better efficiency than conventional two-level drive, but lags in achieving better efficiency due to high dv/dt and neutral point unbalanced condition. This issue is solved by synthesizing the vectors. This is better verified through simulated work done in Matlab.
