Abstract
A box-type structure made of iron slag concrete named "E-Box-O" was installed at the experimental site in Amagasaki Harbor located in northeast part of Osaka Bay. In order to estimate time histories of sessile organism biomasses and the carbon and nitrogen fixation rates of E-Box-O, covered ratio observations and biomass measurements were carried out. The results of investigations showed that the seasonal variations of sessile organism biomasses are very large, and the carbon and nitrogen fixation rates of E-Box-O were estimated as 1.2 - 4.7 kg- C/m2/y and 0.08 - 0.39 kg-N/m2/y4, respectively.
