Abstract :
Cellular radio system designers need to have knowledge of the characteristics of the mobile channel and in particular the way in which the signal propagates in a given type of environment. The results of recent measurements at cellular system frequencies on typical `real´ mixed land/water paths in urban Auckland are given. The recovery effect as observed at lower frequencies does not appear to be a significant factor at UHF. A modified plane-earth model is suggested
