Abstract :
This paper proposes and analyses the performance of a point-to-multipoint selective repeat pure ARQ protocol with finite receiver buffer. It is simple to implement and well suited for high speed communications. Only messages negatively acknowledged or discarded due to buffer overflows are just single copy retransmitted. The analysis uses a semi-Markov process model to derive a lower bound on the throughput of the proposed scheme. The results show that it outperforms all existing similar ARQ schemes. Furthermore, its throughput efficiency remains in a usable range even for very high error rate conditions where it is higher than a known multicopy retransmission SR scheme
