Abstract :
We discuss some theoretical investigations into the variation of the local-field enhancement factors on the surface of a variety of different experimentally-relevant particle geometries. We in particular examine the localization of the surface electromagnetic fields ( hot-spots), and discuss some metrics that may be used to quantify this localization, and the hot-spot strength.
