Abstract :
Whereas GSM (Global System for Mobile) is aiming at outdoor urban coverage and provides public network access and international roaming, the DECT (Digital European Cordless Telecommunication) aims to provide indoor access for different applications such as residential, business and public (Telepoint). However DECT access system is in fact limited to a single cordless system and it does not support contiguous coverage. Therefore the coverage area of the system is in principle determined by the coverage of the base station of system´s so called home system. Implementing a DECT system with wide area mobility, requires a supporting network with complete mobility functions. Interworking between GSM and DECT, in order to provide the DECT access system with wide area mobility is investigated
