Abstract :
In a competitive environment and striving to maintain the competitive edge, one should always be on the look out for continuous improvement initiatives (CIP). This paper focuses on such a CIP, which was initiated by a combination of factors consisting of different pressure groups, the need to improve energy efficiency and with the available energy resources in the form of CO gas. This lead to site measurements of available energy resources and an investigation to determine the best technical and financial option for generation or cogeneration plant at an existing operation where off-gas energy is flared
