Abstract :
As changes have occurred in the Control Centers throughout North America, companies and training professionals are now faced with the need to test, evaluate, and/or assess System Operators´ skills, knowledge, and abilities. The level of measurement can vary tremendously depending on its appropriateness and application. Challenges exist on when and what to assess and the determination of what will satisfy the current and future requirements. The challenge for trainers is to design, develop, and implement assessment tools that meet the goal and will satisfy audit requirements. This presentation will provide a detailed overview of the issues that exist with the design, development, and implementation of assessment tools for all facets of a System Operator Training Program. It will identify current requirements and provide a means to meet these requirements. In addition, we will explore a full blown testing model for System Operator qualification programs. We will then identify necessary considerations for establishing a sound and defensible program.
