Abstract :
This paper discusses the theory of operation of the thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC), and describes the design of a prototype, laboratory-scale TCSC to meet a specific range of capacitive reactance values suited to a research laboratory application. Simulated and measured results of the designed TCSC are presented to verify the soundness of the approach
