Abstract :
This paper presents the implementation of a microcomputer-based field-oriented controller for the synchronous machine. The control scheme is implemented using a hysteresis current controller with multilevel pulse-width-modulated (PWM), voltage source inverter (VSI). The use of three-level PWM reduces the switching frequency, which allows a smaller hysteresis band current that has a favorable impact on the harmonic contents and machine performance. A laboratory prototype is implemented to check the validity of the proposed field-oriented control scheme. Both computer simulation and experimental results confirmed the great performance of the proposed drive system.
