Abstract
Many companies adopting client-server technology have failed to be successful, often failing on their second and third client-server projects rather than their first one. Such failures can be attributed to the lack of an initial systems architecture blueprint. Such a blueprint defines the systems and databases required and maps them to planned computing platforms and locations within the enterprise. Successful implementation of client-server technology within an enterprise relies on the development of an appropriate system architecture blueprint rather than slavishly following accepted client-server dogma
