  • Abstract
    The signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio is lower and the impulse signal of gear is difficult to extract when the gearbox is operating under heavy environmental conditions. For this reason, a new method is proposed for improving the signal to noise ratio from measurements of gearbox vibration by an evolutionary digital filter (EDF). In combination with EDF, spectrum analysis techniques are used for detection of gearbox fault. Experimental result has shown that these techniques can be made more effective only after EDF has reduced the background noise from the diagnostic signals
