Abstract :
The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a potential future linear electron-positron accelerator that CERN is considering as part of an effort to extend the exploration of the lepton collision energy region of 0.5 to 5TeV. As discussed in [1], the CLIC requires the use of highly efficient and controllable power electronics for both the utility grid interface and the Klystron modulators. The complex will include around 1600 Klystron modulators, with a total average power consumption of 300MW (37GW peak). This presents many challenges for the utility connected power electronics and novel approaches are therefore required in both the power conversion and control design.
