A graphical prototyping system for computer-aided development of expert instrumentation software

The authors present a computer-aided prototyping system which they have developed to allow the designer to deal directly with the specific nature of a problem, rather than its implementation. This approach is extended to the development of software for instrumentation with expert characteristics. For this purpose, the authors consider strategies which deal with uncertainty management.
