Abstract
Energy efficient wireless sensor network MAC protocol is one of the most researched areas related to sensor networks. In most of the applications, the sensors are deployed in hundreds and thousands. The need of efficient sharing of resources of the network and conserve energy to boost up the life time are the prime goals. Using actual sensor networks (in case of developing a new algorithm) or experimenting functionalities will consume a lot of time and cost. In this paper, we developed EnergySim, which is a novel simulator dedicated for wireless sensor networks for evaluating energy consumption for a variety of MAC protocols. Our simulator makes implementation of any protocol simple by meeting the requirements of varying users especially those concerned with energy consumption in wireless sensor networks.
