Abstract
A non line of sight 42 GHz point to point link has been set up specifically to measure and study the anomalous propagation activity at 42 GHz across an estuary and marsh land in Essex. The link was originally set up under direct line of sight conditions (the antennas are narrow beam width) and the receiver was then moved down to a much lower height and a non line of sight path. Preliminary results and analysis indicate that anomalous propagation certainly does exist at 42 GHz, Transmissions can be bent over non line of sight paths. The authors have recorded anomalous radio refractive index induced activity over significant periods of time. Over much shorter periods rainfall scatter has been observed to produce over the horizon propagation
