Abstract :
We consider pilot cancellation in a WCDMA network. Motivations for the cancellation of disturbing pilot signals can be argued both from link and system level points of view, since it enables both mitigation of additional multiple access interference and more interference-free handover processes. In addition, the transmission power in the network can be reduced. We present a study of the effects of pilot cancellation from the system performance point of view and draw conclusions about the achieved capacity gains.
