Abstract :
Various aspects of measurement and modeling which have been discovered while working with `less precise´ devices are discussed. The modeling of acceleration effects in bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators and oscillators by means of equivalent electrical circuits is described. Practical considerations in the measurement of UHF and microwave frequency sources are reported. A derivation of the general conditions for an intrinsically acceleration-insensitive crystal resonator is presented, and the application of the conditions to the evaluation of the relative sensitivity of different crystal cuts, modes of motion, mounting geometries, and piezoelectric materials is described
