Abstract :
This study numerically simulates the dynamic performance of linear optical amplifiers (LOAs), including the crosstalk and relaxation oscillations. A small signal analysis is proposed using average carrier density approximation to quantitatively investigate the crosstalk of LOAs. It is demonstrated that average carrier density is a good approximation for the small signal analysis of LOAs. The numerical results also show that the crosstalk of LOAs is linearly increasing with the increasing of the input signal power.
