Abstract :
Tractable (non-burdensome) guidelines, standards, and precautions for test methods used in determining the dependence of the output frequency of precision oscillators on temperature, humidity, and pressure are presented. A perspective for the manufacturer, the designer, and the user is offered so that clear understanding and communication can occur. The guidelines, standards and precautions encourage consistency and repeatability for measurement and specification of environmental sensitivities. It is argued that very large cost savings will be appreciated if these guidelines, standards and precautions are followed
