Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. We consider the scattering of electromagnetic waves by density fluctuations in an inhomogeneous magnetized plasma when the upper hybrid pump wave is supposed to decay into a upper hybrid and an electron drift wave. It is shown that the scattering cross section essentially depends on the plasma density gradient, the frequency and the intensity of the pump wave. For typical parameters of a fusion plasma it is found that the scattering cross section considerably grows in comparison with the usual thermal noise term. These results should be useful for experimental investigations using scattering techniques for studying the influence of plasma in thermonuclear devices.
