Abstract
The authors present the architecture, functionality, and usage of the APOLLON database. APOLLON database is a pilot object oriented multimedia database designed and implemented by the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics in the University of Patras. The database contains the history of the theatre APOLLON of the city of Patras, one of the most significant theatrical stages in Western Greece, with a history of two hundred years. The application based on an object-oriented approach aims in the adoption of a common object oriented multimedia platform for the development and maintenance of multimedia database for the presentation of the Greek theatrical heritage
