Abstract
The proliferation in the power electronics technology made many of the electric devices controlled in a flexible manner as desired by the load. In this process of flexible control we need to take care of harmonics injected by the power electronic equipment. With the increase in harmonics heating and de-rating of the device are the most critical factors that will affect the performance the devices. In this paper, we focus on the iron losses of a transformer operated by Sinusoidal PWM inverter. We considered 1-υ half bridge Bipolar SPWM Inverter with regular sampling method. Operation of the inverter mainly depends on PWM parameters. With the variation in the amplitude modulation ratio and frequency modulation ratio, performance indices of the transformer are analyzed.
