Abstract
Increasing Energy demand worldwide needs the development of high voltage and high power intensity power transmission lines for meeting the energy requirements. Extra and ultra high voltage transmission lines have been developed worldwide and are successfully being operated in developed nations. Recent trends in Indian transmission scenario are progressing towards establishing 765 KV lines to strengthen its transmission infrastructure. In this paper an attempt is made to present the major design aspects of extra high voltage lines through the design of 765 KV line and an analysis of the benefits resulting from these lines in power transmission are presented.
