Abstract :
This paper describes the implementation of remote monitoring system for the demand side energy utilization using the graphical system design platform - LabVIEW. This LabVIEW application uses the concept of Time of Day (TOD) metering to track how much electricity a consumer uses and the time of use. Demand side energy utilization is tracked electronically using a microcontroller based system. The electronically tracked information is acquired by the LabVIEW application using ZigBee based wireless communication. This LabVIEW based remote application enables the operator to fix the consumer´s energy unit prices which vary at different times of the day. Finally this automated system also generates a detailed statement of the demand side energy utilization which in turn helps the demand side to manage the electricity utilization.
