Abstract :
A remote-controlled and automated concrete surface grinding machine is introduced in this paper. The machine is designed to grind the unsmoothed concrete surface of bridge desks, airport runways, and road pavement. The remote control was required because of the hazardous working condition created by the concrete dust. A graphical man-machine interface (MMI), a path planning system, and sensors including GPS and sonar made the precise and safe operation of the machine possible. The automated quality control system being developed currently would ensure the work quality of the machine by detecting uneven concrete surface and performing the required grinding work properly
